I’m Sarah Balding, and I’m a 30-year-old library services specialist living in Virginia and married to my amazing husband, Ryan, who is a fellow theology nerd who would talk your ear off about ancient Biblical languages if given the chance.
When I’m not educating people about Hoopla or other library amazingness, I’m probably writing for this blog, listening to audiobooks and nerdy podcasts, or trying to figure out more foods I can cook in my crockpot. While I have a passion for chocolate, cheese, and freshly baked bread, I am trying to live a healthier life and am trying to learn to trade Havarti for hiking instead. I’m kind of weird and awkward, so if you’re like that too, we should probably become friends.
I became a believer in Jesus Christ when I was 8 years old. My parents had started attending church years earlier, but it wasn’t until I heard a message in children’s church in 3rd grade that I finally accepted Jesus’ work for me and put my faith in Him, not my own good works or church attendance. After graduating from high school in 2006, I attended Maranatha Baptist University where I studied Biblical Counseling for my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Ryan and I moved to Virginia in 2012 after getting married, and my husband attended seminary for over 5 years before graduating in May 2018. We now attend a Southern Baptist church where my husband serves part-time on their staff as a church administrator/children’s ministry coordinator and part-time working for Wal-Mart.
